Anthroponyms
He was the son, although an illegitimate one, of Friar Paio Correia, bailiff of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. In 1508, he sett off to India as captain of Jorge de Aguiars fleet. This captain of the Carreira da India was probably a nobleman, possibly a fidalgo. However, no reference was found neither of his rank nor of that of Diogo Correia, his older brother, who was also captain of a ship of the 1508 fleet. He inherited his fathers house, probably upon his brothers death, having married Isabel Vaz de Lacerda. Some of their offspring occupied posts in India. |
