Anthroponyms seta JAIME, D. (c.1560-1578)

Son of Dom Teodósio, 5th Duke of Bragança, by his second marriage, and of Dona Brites de Lencastre; half brother of Dom João, 6th Duke of Bragança. He was Knight Commander in the military Order of Christ, in S. Martinho de Moreira. With his nephew Dom João, who would become the 6th Duke of Bragança, Dom Jaime represented the Duchy in the second Moroccan campaign led by King Dom Sebastião. Whereas the ten-year-old Dom João watched the Battle of Alcácer Quibir from a safe distance, Dom Jaime, being a young man, was allowed to take an active part in it, and perished in combat.
