Anthroponyms seta CATANHO, Rafael

He was captain of the fleets that left for India in 1517 and 1519. Before sailing to the East he was in Azemmour in 1514, when he became a member of the Order of Christ. Of noble birth and belonging to the Royal House, it is said he was one of the King?s counsellors; his name was part of a list published in 1518, which means that, at least, he was already a member of such an important consulting organ when of his second voyage. In 1520 he was the captain of the fleet that attacked Diu. In 1521 he left for Pacem, where his ship would take pepper aboard.
