FERNANDES, Sebastião (1569-1607)
|
Anthroponyms
Clergy of the Society of Jesus who worked in Japan. He was born in 1569 and died in Macau, on 31 December 1607. He entered the Society in 1590 and, after finishing his studies he was in Japan for two years, having then returned to Macau. Sebastião Fernandes is mentioned in the rosters of the college of Macau, done in October 1603 and in February 1607, but he might have been in Japan between these two dates. He is probably the priest who, in 1604, accompanied four brothers who went from Macau to Japan with the sole purpose of being ordained priests. |
