He was a crew member of one of the ships in the fleet commanded by Lançarote de Lagos in 1445, which had set as one of its goals the revenge of Gonçalo Sintra?s death occurred in 1444 in the Island of Tidra. After the first assault to the island, a group of Portuguese, in which Pêro Alemão was included, returned to take some Moor prisoners. Zurara, a Portuguese chronicler, wrote that he was not sure if the name ?Pêro? meant a German origin or if it was just a nickname. |
