Merchant living in Macao in the first half of the 17th century, he was an opponent of the Society of Jesus in the contention of Ilha Verde in 1621. He supported the Jesuits in the contradiction about the election of the new Governor of the Bishopric of China in 1622-1623. In this context, he granted certificates in favour of the followers of S. Francisco Xavier on January 25th, 1623. He was Clerk in Santa Casa da Misericórdia in 1626, 1627 and 1628.

He participated in the debate of 1631-1637 on the new type of election for travel Administrator to Japan, which was imposed by the Viceroy Count of Linhares upon suggestion of the Chief Judge Sebastião Soares Pais.
