Clergy of the Society of Jesus who worked in Japan. He died in Nagasaki on 10th December, 1622. As the Society's dojuku, he left for exile in Macau in November 1614. Then he returned to Japan together with former dojuku Pedro, Miguel and Gonçalo, and all of them became hermits. In 1619 they were imprisoned in Nagasaki and accused of being priests. António, as well as his colleagues, resisted all attempts to apostatise and he was sent to the Omura branch, where he was admitted to the Society before 6th October, 1621. Still a novice, he was burned alive in Nagasaki.
