Groom in the Privy Chamber of Prince Henry the Navigator. In 1441, he departed to South Bojador with Antão Gonçalves. He was one of the nine companions that Antão Gonçalves took on the exploration of the hinterland, which penetrated three leagues inland, and captured a male and a female moor.
