This gentleman of the Royal House was the son of João Teles. In 1506 he left, for the first time, to the East as captain of the fleet of Tristão da Cunha. In 1515 he returned to India as captain of a ship belonging to the fleet commanded by Lopo Soares de Albergaria, having been appointed captain of Calicut in replacement of Francisco Nogueira. He held the office from 1515 to 1518, at which time he returned to the Realm definitely.
