Clergy of the Society of Jesus who worked mostly in Japan. He was born in Diu around 1552 but was raised in Portugal. Also known as Ambrósio da Cruz, he was admitted to the Society in Japan in 1577. In 1596 he went to Macau to be ordained priest. Between 1603 and 1607 he was in charge of the Chijiwa residence. He took vows as spiritual coadjutor on 20th February, 1603, in Arima. In February 1613 he was responsible for the spiritual guidance of some villages around Nagasaki. In November 1614 he left for exile in Macau, where he remained until 1617, at least.
