A member of the Society of Jesus that mainly worked in Japan, he was born in Golegã around 1558 and passed away in Japan in September 1611. He was admitted into the Society in Lisbon on 27 November 1576, and having finished his novitiate in Coimbra, he left to the islands off the coast of Portugal from where he went to Évora and later to India. He had already received his priestly ordination when he entered Japan in July 1590, arriving in Nagasaki in 1592. In 1603, he was the superior of the Katsusa residence, staying there in 1606 and 1607. He took vows as a trained spiritual coadjutor between 1592 and 1603 and passed away from a painful illness that lasted for a year.
