Merchant established in Macao, he was Treasurer of Santa Casa da Misericórdia of this city in 1601.
If he is Christovão Soares Coelho, he participated in the debate of 1631-1637 on the new type of election for travel Administrator to Japan, imposed by the Viceroy Count of Linhares, upon the suggestion of the Chief Judge Sebastião Soares Pais.
In 1641, he served as Municipal Procurator and was among the twenty oldest and most prominent citizens of Macao. He signed the Term of May 31st, 1642 on the occasion of the acclamation of Dom João IV. In 1642, he also stood out in the controversy that opposed the Commissaries of the Holy Office (Father Gaspar Luis and Father Gaspar do Amaral) to Friar Bento de Cristo, and he acted in accordance with the General Governor Dom Sebastião Lobo da Silveira signing the terms of the agreement "Capitulaçoens dos Concertos da concórdia". In 1643, in the sequence of the acclamation of D. João IV and upon suggestion of António Fialho Ferreira, he was awarded the Habit of the Order of Santiago. Between 1645 and 1646, he participated in the debate on sending an Embassy to Japan.
