In 1444, he left with Lançarote to the coast of Arguin. Lançarote asked him to go to the island of Naar, together with Martins Vicente, taking some small barks and men to seize a native, so that they could decide if it would be possible do disembark. Upon their arrival to the island they found a large number of natives totally unaware. For that reason they decided not to wait for the rest of the fleet and captured 225 natives.
