The lineage of this nobleman of the Royal House is unknown to us. In 1509 he went to the Orient as captain of the fleet and was the first to arrive in India. There he met captain Simão de Andrade, with whom he was to convey to Afonso de Albuquerque the news of the arrival of Marshal Fernando Coutinho. He returned to the Kingdom in 1510.
