Clergy of the Society of Jesus who worked mostly in Japan. Born in Cochin around 1554, he died in Macao on 18 January, 1620. He was Portuguese-Indian, his father being Portuguese. He entered the Society in 1574 and arrived in Japan in 1577. He went to Macau in 1582 to be ordained a priest, re-entering in Japan the following year. He worked in several areas of Shimo: he was sent to Omura initially but, in January 1589 was in the region of Shimabara and, in 1592, was at the Kozura residence, in Higo. On 22 November, 1592, his training completed, he professed the vows of Spiritual Coadjutor in Amakusa. He interrupted pastoral work between 1596 and 1598, serving as companion to the Bishop Dom Pedro Martins, during the Bishop´s time in Japan, and going to Macao with the Bishop in 1597. However, he returned to Japan the following year. In 1603, 1606, and 1607, he worked at the Arima residence and, in 1613, assisted father Gaspar Carvalho at Mercy Parish in Nagasaki. He was exiled to Macao, leaving Japan November 1614.
