In 1505 he went to the Orient as captain of Dom Francisco de Almeida´s fleet. Once he arrived on Angediva Island, the Viceroy sent him to the trading posts of Cannanore, Cochim, and Kollam. This captain joined the "Fleet of India", as it was called, serving Dom Lourenço de Almeida, namely in 1505, when he went with him to "cause damage" in Kollam, in order to avenge the death of António de Sá and his men.
