Merchant who lived in Macao in the first half of the 17th century, he was Clerk in Santa Casa da Misericórdia in 1624 and 1625. Having lived about 27 years in the city, he is referred to in the inhabitants' list of 1625 ("Lista De La gente Efetiua que Ay Em esta Ciudade Assy, Vizinos Como estrauagantes forasteros E gente De lla tierra") as being resident in the parish of Sé. He was a member of the circle of Commodores of ship and travel Administrators to Japan.
He was in the elite of power, wealth and knowledge in the 1620s, 1630s and 1640s, specifically 8 times in the 30s and 4 times in the 40s. He participated in the debate of 1631-1637 on the new type of election for travel administrator to Japan, which was imposed by the Viceroy Count of Linhares upon suggestion of the Chief Judge Sebastião Soares Pereira.
He signed the Term of May 31st, 1642 on the occasion of the acclamation of Dom João IV in Macao. Being a prominent citizen, he acted in accordance with Governor General Dom Sebastião Lobo da Silveira in the 1642 contradiction that opposed Governor of Bishopric Friar Bento de Cristo to the Commissaries of the Holy Office, Father Gaspar Luis and Father Gaspar do Amaral. Upon suggestion of António Fialho Ferreira, and subsequently to the acclamation of D. João IV, he was awarded the Habit of the Order of Christ.
He served as Alderman in 1643 and participated in the meeting where associate Procurators of the people were elected.
He participated in the debate on sending an embassy to Japan between 1645 and 1646, and was considered one of the six citizens in Macao recognised as the greatest authority in the matter of travel to Japan.
