this nobleman was the son of Nuno Gonçalves de Leão, the Chancellor of Casa do Civel, and brother of Henrique Nunes de Leão, who was captain of the India fleets in 1507 and 1513. In 1510, Jorge Nunes de Leão left for the Orient with the fleet of Gonçalo de Sequeira. He was involved in the second conquest of Goa (1510) and, later on, joined Afonso de Albuquerque and the Armada that would conquer Malacca (1511). He died in the siege of the palace of Benasterim (1512).
