In 1505 he went to India as captain of Viceroy Francisco de Almeida´s fleet. Once he arrived in the Indian Ocean, this knight of the Royal House became part of Dom Lourenço de Almeida´s fleet, which guarded the coast of Malabar. We have news of his presence in India until 1508, when he would return to the Kingdom. In 1513, he took the habit of Christ.
